Revitalisasi Ruang Terbuka Hijau Melalui Kolaborasi Pemuda dalam Penanaman Pohon Produktif

This community service activity aims to revitalize green open space (RTH) in Gedung Johor Village, Medan Johor District, through the active involvement of youth in planting productive trees. Service partners face challenges in the form of non-optimal use of vacant land, low environmental awareness, and lack of participation of the younger generation in reforestation activities. The program is carried out in a participatory manner through the stages of location mapping, technical training, collective planting of productive trees, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. A total of 20 participants, the majority of whom were 19-25 years old, were directly involved in this activity. The results of the evaluation showed that the benefits of the program were felt very high by the participants (average score of 4.70), followed by satisfaction with the facilitator (4.45) and the training material (4.40). This program has been proven to be able to increase ecological awareness, technical skills, and build community-based environmental initiatives. The main obstacle identified is the limited physical facilities of the training venue. Overall, this youth-based collaborative approach is considered effective in strengthening the sustainability of the urban environment and has the potential to be replicated in other regions with similar characteristics.
