This community service activity was conducted to document and preserve local historical heritage related to the origins of Bantun Kerbo through the collection of oral histories and documentation of historical remains in Sumbul Bantun Kerbo Village. The activity was motivated by the condition in which knowledge of the village's history has largely been transmitted orally, while written and visual documentation of the heritage and the narratives associated with it remains limited. The objectives of this activity were to collect local historical information, document Batu Kerbo and related locations, and develop initial materials that can be used by the community and younger generations to recognize and understand their local history. The activity employed a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations, interviews with community members and village elders, visual documentation, and literature review. It was conducted over a 30-day period as part of the Community Service Program (KKN), from July 31 to August 31, 2026. The results indicate that Batu Kerbo represents an important historical heritage site in community memory and is associated with the story of seven buffaloes and the relationship between the Angkat and Sara’an clans. The documentation also recorded narratives concerning stones located around the Parongil River that remain connected to local collective memory. These findings demonstrate that local historical preservation needs to encompass both physical heritage and the community narratives associated with it. The contribution of this activity lies in developing an initial documentation framework that integrates physical heritage, oral history, and the social context of the community as a foundation for a village historical archive. The outputs, including historical notes, interview records, and visual documentation, can serve as introductory materials on local history for the community and younger generations and provide a foundation for developing a more structured and sustainable village historical archive in future activities.
