School environmental cleanliness plays a crucial role in fostering students' awareness and sense of responsibility. However, a solid understanding of the importance of cleanliness is not always matched by the consistent practice of hygienic habits in daily life. This gap between awareness and behavior is a significant issue, as cultivating environmentally conscious behavior requires both understanding and hands-on practical experience. This community service initiative aimed to provide students with an understanding of and practical experience in maintaining a clean school environment, while also assessing their levels of awareness, attitudes, and cleanliness-related behaviors following the program. The partner institution was SMP Negeri 22 Samarinda, involving 33 students serving on the Student Council (OSIS). The program comprised several stages: preparation, a "Cleanliness Movement" seminar, a school-wide cleanup activity, and evaluation. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires, observation, and documentation. Evaluation results indicated that the students' cleanliness awareness level averaged 4.45 (89.52%), placing it in the "high" category. The understanding aspect achieved the highest score at 92.73% ("very high" category), while attitudes and responsibility (89.39%), seminar feedback (89.33%), and cleanliness behavior (87.07%) all fell within the "high" category. These results reveal that while students possess a strong understanding of cleanliness, their actual behavioral application lags slightly behind; thus, the established awareness requires reinforcement through habituation and direct involvement. Observations also confirmed active student participation in cleaning and tidying the school grounds following the seminar. Combining seminars with practical cleaning activities serves as an effective educational tool for bridging the gap between understanding and tangible action. Consequently, similar initiatives should be sustained through habit-building, leading by example, waste management, and routine monitoring to ensure that awareness evolves into consistent and sustainable behavior.
