Abstract

A community service activity was conducted in Kalianyar Village, Ngronggot District, Nganjuk Regency, to address the partners' challenges regarding limited knowledge and skills in utilizing cultivation technology on limited land, as well as the need for environmentally friendly alternatives for plant disease control. The activity was carried out through extension sessions, demonstrations, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation, involving 21 participants. Pre-test results showed a knowledge level of 48.10%, which rose to 80.48% in the post-test—an increase of 32.38 percentage points. The Wilcoxon test indicated no decline in understanding across any indicators; some participants showed improvement, while others maintained the same scores. However, the changes in each indicator did not reach statistical significance at the 5% level. The sustainability evaluation yielded a score of 73.44%, indicating a positive inclination among participants to continue implementing hydroponics and Trichoderma sp.-based Biological Control Agents (BCA). The activity contributed to enhancing the community's initial capacity by providing understanding and practical experience in constructing simple hydroponic systems, managing nutrients, and recognizing the use of BCAs as an alternative for plant disease control. Thus, the program not only improved participants' understanding but also fostered the community's readiness to adopt cultivation technologies suited to local land conditions and to support more environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
