Abstract

Emergency situations require prompt and appropriate treatment to prevent more serious complications. Mild asthma and mild head injuries are two common emergency situations among adolescents, occurring in both schools and the general public. However, many adolescents lack the skills to recognize danger signs and administer first aid. This activity aims to improve emergency care skills for mild asthma and traumatic injuries in adolescents through case simulation methods at Kaertika 1-2 High School, Medan. This community service method utilizes simulation practices with case scenarios for mild asthma and traumatic injuries. The design used a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test and training based on the case simulation method. The target group for this community service program was 35 adolescents at Kartika 1-2 High School, consisting of 13 males and 22 females. Data on adolescent knowledge related to handling emergency care skills for asthma and traumatic injuries showed a score of 42.05, a mean post-test score of 70.7, and a mean difference score of 28.7. The results of this community service demonstrate an increase in adolescent knowledge and skills in handling cases of mild asthma and traumatic injuries independently and appropriately. Simulation methods have proven effective as a learning medium because they provide direct experience, increase self-confidence, and train rapid response in emergency situations.
