Pemanfaatan Aplikasi Digital Arsip Keluarga sebagai Upaya Mitigasi Arsip pada Masyarakat Rawan Bencana

Family archives are records of vital information that serve as proof of residents’ identity and legal assets that must be preserved for the continuity of community administration. However, the public’s knowledge and literacy regarding the management and maintenance of family archives remain limited. This issue becomes increasingly critical in densely populated areas vulnerable to natural disasters, such as RW 05 in Airlangga Village, Gubeng Subdistrict, Surabaya City, where there is a risk of permanent damage to or loss of physical documents. The target beneficiaries of this initiative are local residents of RW 05 who require specialized guidance, given that the majority of residents do not yet have an emergency-ready archival storage system. Therefore, this community service program aims to educate and raise public awareness about the importance of family archive mitigation through technology-based solutions. The activities were carried out through outreach, training, and mentoring on family archive preservation, while also providing practical contributions in the form of implementing information technology-based document protection. This community service activity was carried out through a participatory approach divided into two main stages. The first stage of the community service activity focused on conducting outreach and education regarding the urgency of proper family archive storage and management, as well as providing training and practical guidance on using the Digital Family Archive (DAK-UNAIR) application as a digital-based archive mitigation solution. The second phase of the community service activity involved conducting field monitoring and providing ongoing guidance on mitigation practices by directly engaging with the community in RW 05, Airlangga Village, Gubeng Subdistrict, Surabaya City. The results of this community service activity demonstrated a significant transformation in the knowledge and technical skills of the target participants. Residents’ level of misunderstanding regarding archive digitization was successfully reduced to a minimum. The success of this implementation was supported by intergenerational collaboration within families, specifically when the digital literacy limitations of elderly residents were successfully overcome through proactive assistance from their children and in-laws. Overall, this community service program has received positive feedback from the community because it provides tangible benefits, changes behaviors regarding document care, and ensures the preservation of family archives.
