Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen empathy and tolerance among students at SDN 2 Bojasari through anti-bullying education and responsible smartphone use training. The program was designed as a preventive effort to create a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports students’ social and emotional development in the digital era. The focus of the activities was on fostering positive social behaviour in both direct interactions and digital spaces. The implementation methods included an initial observation to assess students’ social conditions, experiential-based social emotional learning activities, and digital literacy mentoring that emphasized communication ethics and responsibility in technology use. This approach ensured that students not only understood the concepts cognitively but were also able to internalize and apply empathy and tolerance in their daily interactions. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ empathy and tolerance levels. The empathy score increased from 60.2 to 80.1, while the tolerance score rose from 62.1 to 84.0. In addition to quantitative findings, feedback from students and teachers indicated high satisfaction with the program. Teachers observed positive behavioural changes, including increased mutual respect, reduced student conflicts, and greater awareness of the negative impacts of bullying, both offline and in digital contexts. Overall, the program proved effective in promoting digital ethical awareness and strengthening character education in elementary school settings.
